Bamboo Songbird — Sculptural Franz Porcelain Teapot

A teapot with the spirit of a small sculpture. Designed by James Tsai for the Franz Collection, the Bamboo Songbird teapot pairs a softly rounded porcelain body with a green bamboo-form handle, delicate leafy branches and a brilliantly colored bird perched above the lid.

Although its playful silhouette recalls fanciful midcentury ceramics, Franz introduced the design in the early 21st century. This example was discovered in Kona, Hawaii, and has been gently used and enjoyed.

Serve tea from it, display it as an art object, or allow its improbable little bird to preside over a collection of quieter white porcelain.
