French Artisan Octagonal Ceramic Platter — La Tuile à Loup, Paris, 2020

A substantial handmade French ceramic platter with a distinctive octagonal form and richly worked surface. The geometric border frames a wonderfully expressive field of color and pattern, giving the piece the presence of an object meant as much for display as for the table.

Purchased directly from La Tuile à Loup in Paris through Éric Goujou in 2020, the platter reflects the shop’s longstanding focus on regional French pottery and the work of independent ceramic artisans. The individual artisan is unidentified.

Approximately 16¾ × 13 inches.
