The Long Pour — Vintage Glass Martini Pitcher with Paired Stirrer

Tall, spare and wonderfully theatrical, this clear-glass pitcher was made for the civilized ritual of a properly stirred martini. Its dramatically elongated body, pulled pouring lip, substantial base and beautifully formed handle give it the elegance of laboratory glass translated for the cocktail hour.

Believed to date from the 1980s, the pitcher was received as a gift from a close family friend around the early 1990s. The long glass stirrer was found and paired with it many years later; it is not represented as the pitcher’s original companion.

Naturally suited to martinis, the pitcher can also serve iced tea, lemonade, chilled water or a favorite batch cocktail. Between gatherings, it becomes an unexpectedly striking vase for one tall orchid, calla lily or other sculptural botanical stem.
